Mother Daughter Retreat Weekend

The International ALERT Academy is delighted to invite mothers and daughters of all ages to an exciting retreat weekend geared specifically toward them! Ladies will be inspired through meaningful sessions with guest speaker Jennie Bishop, encouraged through fellowship times, and challenged during creative learning times.
Through our 2008 theme of “Housebuilding 101,” moms and daughters will be exhorted in a variety of ways to be built with wisdom, character, and godliness.
Guest Speaker: Mrs. Jennie Bishop
“Jennie Bishop grew up on a soybean farm in Ohio, and signed her yearbooks “Great Author of the Future” in high school. She has authored a number of children’s stories, many of which are being translated worldwide.
The Princess and the Kiss was written after Jennie’s daughter came home with a story of how all her girlfriends had boyfriends—in kindergarten. Realizing that she couldn’t wait for a “big talk” in the teen years, Jennie asked God to help her find an age-appropriate way to teach young children about purity and the importance of “saving themselves for marriage.” The unexpected grassroots response to The Princess and The Kiss catapulted Bishop into a speaking and conference ministry to bring the message of biblical purity to children and parents alike.
Jennie continues to write books that celebrate purity, marriage and family and to speak internationally on the subject. She is a frequent speaker at parent/child banquets, churches, crisis pregnancy gatherings and AIDS events. Jennie is married to Randy, a composer and worship leader, and has two daughters”

Schedule
The Mother Daughter Retreat Weekend schedule will include times for teaching sessions, physical activity, and creative workshops. Increase physical dexterity as you challenge the elements of the Low Ropes Course, take a canoe out on the lake, and hike nature trails around campus. Are you interested in learning a new skill? Join us for a quilting workshop, try your hand at drawing in pencil, or bring your pictures for a scrapbooking class and more. We have prepared an exciting host of things to choose from!
