Unit 37 Basic Training- We have just completed Unit 37 basic training, and are praising the Lord for the fruit that he has seen fit to bring in the lives of these men! We began with 39 men and finished with 37, all of whom promoted. The focus as we began the training was to really seek to disciple the men, and I believe we saw more growth and maturity because of that. This unit was also the first one since Unit 29 to have a Big Hike at the end of Basic. We hiked close to 70 miles on the Ouachita trail up in Oklahoma, finishing up at Lake Ouachita. The men also had the opportunity to enjoy sun on the Big Hike next to a beautiful river, which they enjoyed immensely! Just to show you how God was working on that whole trip, when we loaded the buses on Thursday it was raining, and the forecast for the whole weekend was rain. I know I was praying that God would hold off the rain, and several of the families (not to mention the men) were also praying. The long and short of it is that there was not a drop of rain on us all weekend, and it was some of the most beautiful hiking weather that I have ever experienced. God is good! To close this short summary, I am very proud of each of the men of Unit 37. They have accomplished what few men will ever do in their lives, and did it well! I am looking forward to working with the men who return and praise God for each one of them. (Report by Cpt. Keon Pendergast, Basic Training Officer, graduate of ALERT Unit 1)

Family Camp -Register Now!!!! Oct. 6-13, 2007

Since the fall of 2000, the International ALERT Academy has welcomed families from around the nation and world to an escape that their entire family would enjoy. Those who have discovered Family Camp found not only a vacation, but also an unforgettable experience of relaxation, enjoyment, inspiration and togetherness! The week of Family Camp is packed with opportunities for activity - both organized and “on your own”. Your family may choose to seize the day by taking part in activities including rappelling, canoeing, archery, fishing, and hiking or events such as the Family Camp Volleyball Tournament or popular Canoe Races. You may also decide to simply enjoy a quiet day of peace and fellowship.

The theme of this year’s Family Camp is “The Tabernacle”. Throughout the week of Family Camp, you will be treated to powerful sessions, dynamic illustrations, and interactive visuals that will introduce all ages to the Old Testament Tabernacle. You will discover the rich and profound symbolism of the Tabernacle as each element of its God-designed construction points God’s people to His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Your eyes will be opened to the power of Christ, His relationship to the church, and His plan for our relationships with one another.

Join us in welcoming special guests Dr. Dan Hayden of The Holy Land Experience and Dr. Lew Sterrett of Miracle Mountain Ranch. With the ability to communicate difficult biblical concepts in ways that are easy to follow, one comes away from Dr. Hayden’s teaching with a broader, more complete understanding of biblical truths and themes. A Family Camp favorite, Dr. Sterrett’s engaging teaching style and insight will inspire and excite each member of your family. Be captivated as Lew utilizes horses and training techniques to impart valuable and eternal lessons about our relationships to God and to each other.

Family Camp also invites you to participate in the Tabernacle Experience, a journey through an interactive exhibit taking you through a life-size recreation of the Tabernacle. The sights and sounds of the Tabernacle come-to-life and will fascinate you and your children! The replica -or Tabernacle Experience- is 175 feet by 45 feet and will be set up during the week just for Family Camp.
