Update - July 18

July 18th, 2007

Quest has been busy!

The first week ended well, and everyone was rewarded with a brief, fun midnight hike. This was enjoyed by all—we all came back wet, muddy and beaming.

Saturday, the guys had an inspection (which everyone failed) and then did a navigation class in the afternoon.

Sunday was a day of quiet and focus on God. The students were supposed to call home to their parents, however, some apparently didn’t. If your son didn’t call home, please email him at quest@alertacademy.com (put his name in the Subject line) and tell him to call you.

This week, Green group is doing First Aid, Blue Group did Automotive on Monday and Tuesday and is doing Home Electrical and Home Plumbing on Wednesday and Thursday. Red Group is doing canoing all week.

Please keep Daniel in your prayers. Daniel is a young man from Idaho who was sick over the weekend. Monday, we took him in to the hospital and they found that he had appendicitis. His surgery was Monday evening and went well without complications. He is still in the hospital recovering and will probably join us today or tomorrow and finish recovery here.

You have to love that first full sentence: “The first week ended well, and everyone was rewarded with a brief, fun midnight hike.”

Us old fogies look at that and think, “REWARDED???” But I have no doubt, after hearing from my son Jordan, that the young men really DID think that it was a lot of fun — at least, afterwards!

I praise God for the program there, and I know He is doing a mighty work in all of the young men taking part. You’re all in our prayers every day. God bless!

Hi, we are checking the site several times a day and love getting a glimpse of what our guys are doing. Though we know you in leadership are sooo busy, we wish there would be more frequent postings! Thanks!
